Privacy Policy
Motion & Fitness (step count)
- Only after you tap Use my steps, the app asks iOS for Motion & Fitness access and reads the number of steps your iPhone has counted. It does not use location, heart rate, workouts or any other health data.
- Steps count from the moment you begin your journey; earlier days are not converted. iOS keeps about seven days of step history, so days older than that may not be added.
- You can turn access off any time in the Settings app. Steps you already used stay in your journey. You can also play in reading mode, which uses no motion data at all.
- Trail Letters never writes to Apple Health.
What stays on your iPhone
- Step totals the app has counted, your journey progress, letters you've read, your choices, keepsakes, camp layout, and your traveler's look and name are saved only on your device.
- This data is excluded from iCloud and computer backups and is protected by iOS file protection. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
- Because nothing is stored online, deleting the app or moving to a new iPhone may lose your journey. You can delete it yourself in Settings → Delete journey data on this iPhone.
Game Center friends (optional)
- Off by default. If you turn on Compare with Game Center friends in Settings, the app signs in to Apple's Game Center and submits one number to two leaderboards: how many letters you have delivered on foot this week, and in total. Letters read in reading mode don't count.
- Your step counts, dates, step history and motion data are never sent. Your Game Center friends, and other Game Center players viewing the leaderboards, can see your Game Center name and these letter counts.
- Game Center is operated by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; we do not receive your Apple ID or contact details. If you allow it, iOS lets the app see your Game Center friends list to show their weekly letter counts. Turn the setting off any time.
Postcards
When you tap Share on a postcard, the image is created on your iPhone and the standard iOS share sheet opens. Postcards show your traveler's name, your camp or a letter, and never your steps, dates or location. Nothing is sent unless you choose where to share it.
Network
Apart from Game Center when you turn it on, the app does not contain any code that connects to our servers or to third-party services. If paid worlds are added in the future, purchases would be handled by Apple through the App Store, and this policy will be updated first.
Children
Because the app collects no personal data, it collects none from children either.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Questions: service_app@chiikun.com.
