My steps don't show up.
Tap Check for new steps on the Journey screen. Make sure Motion & Fitness is on (Settings app → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness, and Settings → Trail Letters). Steps count from when you began your journey, and only steps counted by this iPhone are used — steps from an Apple Watch worn without your phone aren't included yet.
Why is "Journey steps ready" different from the Health app?
It shows steps you haven't used yet since you began your journey, not today's total. Once you continue your journey, those steps move your traveler and the number goes back down.
I didn't open the app for a while. Where did those days go?
iOS keeps about seven days of step history. Days older than that can't be read, so they may not be added. The app never guesses or invents steps.
Can I play without sharing motion data?
Yes. Choose Just read for now, or switch to reading mode in Settings. You can read every letter and decorate your camp.
Will I lose anything if I don't walk?
No. Rest days are fine. Unused steps are kept, and your letters, keepsakes and camp stay where they are.
I got a new iPhone. Can I move my journey?
Not yet. Your journey is stored only on your iPhone and isn't backed up to iCloud, for privacy. We know this matters and are looking at safe ways to move it.
How does the friends leaderboard work?
Turn on Compare with Game Center friends in the app's Settings. You and your Game Center friends are ranked by letters delivered on foot this week (it resets every week) — not by steps. Letters read in reading mode don't count. You can turn it off any time.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings in the app (gear icon on the Journey screen) → Delete journey data on this iPhone. Deleting the app also removes everything.
